Time: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Venue: Knowledge Theatre, ITB Asia, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

The World Research Travel Organisation (WRTO) will make its debut appearance at ITB Asia 2025, marking the first time the organisation collaborates with an international trade event to share insights, knowledge, and forward-looking ideas on research travel development.

This milestone session, themed “Cross-Cultural Learning and Collaboration through Education Tourism,” aims to deepen understanding of how education travel can serve as a bridge between cultures, economies, and generations — transforming travel into a meaningful form of lifelong learning.

Hosted by WRTO Vice Chairman and Founder of Le Yeah International, Ms. Liang Wern Ling, the 90-minute programme will feature:

Keynote Address by Professor Yang Zhengzhi, WRTO Executive Chair, on advancing the global vision for education tourism and shaping future-ready learners through travel.

Special Address by Mr. Wang Dewen, Vice Mayor of Dunhuang, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mogao Caves, which stands as a model of integrating heritage, art, and experiential learning.

Panel Discussion: “Driving Socio-Economic and Socio-Cultural Sustainability Through Educational Tourism” — moderated by Dr. Kevin Cheong, lecturer, consultant, and regional tourism expert.
The distinguished panelists include:

Mr. Samson Li (China) — Contributing Drafter of China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Guidelines on Outbound Research Travel Services; Founder of Hikids International Camp; and Research Travel Producer of Zhejiang Radio & Television’s China Blue Programme.

Mr. Clement Tan (Singapore) — Deputy Vice President, Sales & Experience Development, Mandai Wildlife Group, bringing insights on sustainable, nature-based education experiences.

Mr. Sanjay A/L M. Nadarajah (Malaysia) — General Manager, GL Play by Gamuda Land, with over 20 years of experience in theme park management, event development, and experiential learning projects across the region.

Introduction to WRTO’s International Research Travel Base Accreditation — recognising destinations and institutions that meet international standards for integrating culture, learning, and sustainability into travel experiences.

At ITB Asia 2025, WRTO looks forward to vibrant exchanges, new partnerships, and raising the bar for excellence in global education tourism. This is more than a conference—it’s a platform for co-creation and exchange,” says Ms. Liang.

“By participating in ITB Asia, WRTO invites educators, destinations, and industry partners to shape the global future of education tourism together.”

As WRTO takes the stage at ITB Asia 2025, it calls on global partners to join in redefining the purpose of travel — turning it into a journey of curiosity, creativity, and connection.

Join us at the Knowledge Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, on 16 October 2025, 1:30–3:00 PM, and be part of this inspiring dialogue on the future of education tourism.
