The World Research Travel Organization (WRTO) is a non-profit organization founded in Canada in 2014. Its work brings education, travel and cultural exchange into conversation, promoting the sharing of knowledge and the development of research travel.
We connect perspectives across research, educational institutions, destinations and the travel community. Our purpose is to deepen understanding of people, culture and nature through meaningful experiences of learning.

Established in Canada
The World Research Travel Organization was founded on 16 February 2014.
A China chapter
Registration in China in August was followed by the launch event in Emeishan, Leshan, on 6 September.
Research travel in Penang
The World Research Travel Conference connected the community through dialogue and place-based experiences.
International dialogue in Singapore
WRTO and ITB Asia hosted an International Research Travel Forum on cross-cultural learning and collaboration.
Educational exchange continues
A Singapore study-tour delegation visited Xiamen for exchange and field learning.
